Is there any special silicone I should use for putting together my tank? I’m using .5” thick glass and it’s going to be 36x24x24. Any brands y’all recommend?

Thanks!

^ That stuff is the best, and has a wicked, overwhelming odor to it. Be sure to properly ventilate, and give it somewhere to off-gas while it cures!

Ask silicone is what a lot of tank manufacturers use.

Dow Corning 999a for clear or Dow Corning 795 for black

I saw that on amazon that there is ASI RTV silicone or the one specially made for aquariums. Which would you recommend?

Yes ASI makes a specific aquarium silicone.

Here is what I ordered.

Black Aquarium Silicone Sealant - 10.2 Fluid oz Cartridge https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EZB2MDI?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Just build my tank and will soon start a build thread for it soon.

I'll attach a sneak peek

How did this work out? I have a IM 30G L I just pulled out of the box after 5 years and the back panel is cracked. I debated a new tank, but now considering fixing what I have. My only concern is the rimless aspect of the tank, is there any difference here? I assume the linked silicone above will work for a rimless 30?

I’ve used a bunch of brands and none failed while in use. Oldest is a 30” cube that’s around 12 years old. From memory I believe I used GE as that’s usually the easiest to get on my area.

Good to hear, now i've just got to source a piece of non-tempered. It's on the back so I can go cheap, no need for starphire ;)

RTV just means room temp vulcanizing.
There are a few different manufacturers of silicone adhesives. Momentive is one of the larger ones previously all of the GE silicones were made by Momentive. I'm not sure if that is still accurate. That company went through a big overhaul a couple of years ago.

I've used the momentive black and clear.
