Just got a new splatter hammer coral from local club member. Coral is doing great but has small “polyps” below head. In total there are 4 of these polyps around the base of the head. One extends out about an 1/4”.
Are these new heads forming or something else?

Looks like babies :)
Any idea if these babies will grow into additional heads or drop?
I didn’t know hammers could generate new heads this way. I thought they only split...
Anything special I should be doing to make sure they keep growing?

nice,will form new heads...

They'll form new heads. They can actually do both but I prefer babies at the base bc most of the time you'll get like 4+ heads coming in at once and way less invasive than a split.
I would keep doing what you've been doing, it looks to be working :)
