So a nearby reefer got some corals he didn't know were SPS and is giving them to me. He said that they are spongeodes and I can't find much info on them. Does anybody have experience with them? Here is a picture

I don't think it's invasive, not like an encrusting montipora. Grows to big, I break some off and bring frags to the fish store. Here's the colony in the reef. Grew from a frag and broke many pieces off since then.

Thanks a lot to everybody for the info! My tank is pretty small so the rockwork is composed of 6 pieces about 7 pounds each and then I have a small area to the side with about 2 pounds of rock for my green star polyps to grow so I can enjoy the waving without them going over everything. I will put these guys in a high flow, medium light area where I can easily reach in to break some pieces off if they grow too much. They will go on top of where I plan on putting the rest of my NPS corals so the shading will actually be helpful in preventing algae.

Sorry about the quality both were taken with a flip phone many years ago. It has sence been removed for the most part. Super fast grower and will overtake most other montis. Red planet acro did win the battle in my tank when they meet.
I do still have a small plate thats about 6in confined to it spot

I had a super nice piece of montipora confusa which is close to this piece. The more light it gets the more it will plate. The less light it will grow stalks to get to the light. Isolate it as it can take over a space.

This was my first coral and knowing its a fast grower I put it on its on rock.. front right.
i can't notice any growth on this coral but its color is fantastic and I like it small:)
