Spray bar or not?!

Is there truly a benefit? I'm thinking about building one just unsure of the pros and cons

I used to have one but ditched it. Id rather just use my regular returns and let my powerheads create the flow. I found no need for it and it was a little more unsightly.

I've used one for years - set up on a closed loop, and it gave the tank a nice gyre. My sand, rocks, and glass stayed cleaner. Food and detritus stayed in the water column. I really like them and didn't have a problem with clogging, but I probably sized my holes correctly. Using black furniture grade sch 40 pvc, they really blend in nicely and you don't know one is there. With the advent of the gyre pump, those days may be over for me. Once I get a feel for long - term reliability, maybe I'll make the switch.
