Hello
I have a question regarding lighting and PAR readings and the effect on a few sps corals I have. For my setup I use an ATI 8 bulb 39w 36" unit over my 120 gal 48x24x24 tank. I also use 2 kessil 360WE's as complimentart lights pretty much for the actinics and the shimmer. I posted some pics to show how its set up

So the other day I noticed the back of one of my sps had what would look like if you burned the coral with a magnifying glass and the sun on the back of it thats directly facing the kessil. On the base and the other side of the coral the color looks amazing. So today I set up my Apex Par meter and Im getting about 265PAR where the coral is. I would think this SPS would have zero problems with this PAR reading and wondering if my Kessil is putting out more than Im reading. Also I only lose about 50-60 par when I turn the kessils off and just use the ati. I also provided a screenshot of my lightening schedule my kessil ramp is 0-15% intensity 0-50% color.
I recently bumped up intensity to 20% but cut color down to 30% thinking it was more of a white light issue as opposed to to much light
You can see here the back that looks burned

You can see here the angle of the Kessils. The sps in question is located in front of the monti growing on the back glass 20190116_182550.jpg

I have also seen the kessil hot spot effect. Also- I find the apex par meter not properly counting true par from the leds so had to get the 510. Found its higher by a lot in some places than the apex would show. And I mean apex would show mid 200 where the apogee shows well over 300.

Kinda figured this is what was happening. Makes sense as I always felt with having an 8 bulb ati and 2 kessils even on lower settings that my numbers seem low.
With that being said is there a way to eliminate the hot spot and am doing the right thing by lower the color settings even with an intensity raise to keep the much stronger whites at bay ?

Raise them to 16-18”. Not sure how that would look or work on your set up.

Acros don’t like sudden lighting changes. The blues leds are very powerful too, so you probably burned them by increasing the intensity 20%. Was it a gradual increase or did you do it over night?

This happened before I raised intensity and lowered the color.
When this happened my ramp was 0-50% color and 0-15% intensity.
Also an important note is my kessils and both stages of the ATIs are only on together for I believe 2 hours.
Just wouldn't think the kessils at 15% would really create much par 7" under water and being 8" above water

How high (intensity) are you running the Kessils? Whether blue or otherwise? Most people seem to keep them no higher than 60%. And yes they shut down between 10 and 20%

I am running the 4-bulb ATI hybrid with three kessils and max intensity I now use mid-day on the Kessils is 60%. Only run the T5’s for a couple hours too.

My intensity stays at 15% with color ramping 0-50% ( now 0-30%) like I said though Im not trying to use kessils to grow coral, they are my supplemental lighting so keep intensity low

Looks like coral color shift not burn. Pics are blurry though so hard to see whats going on. Imo you have your 360s set pretty low so that should not be causing burning. T5 is really strong and I get your PAR readings are off, should be higher with an 8 bulb fixture. Most PAR meters are not good at properly reading blue lighting and LED. Have you recently added that frag or replaced the T5 bulbs? By recently for the frag Im talking like a month or so.
