MY sps corals are starting to get close to each other . Should I cut them back or just let them grow into each other ?

Really depends on the look you are going for honestly. You can let them grow into each other and let nature take its course as to how they grow around the other corals. I, personally, like the full colony look of corals not the little frags placed everywhere. Also, in the ocean, corals grow into, over, around, under other corals fighting to light.

I'm in the same situation.... i usually see how the corals react if they start crowding one another / touching...... if the situation calls for it, i trim to create a little space. In some cases, like with a super large colony of plating monti and a large green slimer, the monti is simply growing in and around the green slimer and both seem to be ok.

It depends.... If that sps colony is huge, or it is just cheap specie, I will just let the nature does its job.
However if I only have 1 small frag, or the price of it is massive, then I definetly will reposition them.

Either way. If you don't cut you one coral will win out.

All depends on the corals, some won't play nice at all and sting when they get close to one another, those have to get cut back often. Others will have little border wars but not destroy much flesh. Some can grow right ontop of one another and only need to be trimmed for looks or to prevent another colony from getting over run. Ive got all 3 variations of coral warfare in my tank. It takes a little while seeing how the corals react to know what needs to be cut and how much. Just do your best for now or let them go and you will find out who won't play nice as soon as they get close enough.

I love the look of all the corals growing togethor. Can be problematic though.

Something others didn’t mention is that growth like that could severely affect flow patterns and in turn, kill parts of your colony.

If they are growing into each other such that one of them blocks water flow for another, could be a good idea to trim away

Be careful. An acro was growing in contact with a histrix for some time and there was only some small sign of stress for some weeks and then, one day the histrix started to bleach and then rtn from the point of contact. I had to remove half of the colony as the rtn progressed...

I let my super large monti colony ( you can only see about 30% of it in the photo) work it out with the green slimer sps - looks like they are cohabitating pretty well. I usually just take a wait and see attitude and trim/move corals if they don't play well with others.
