SPS Montipora PAR Full / Blue Spectrum

in our country we say to the blue light reefing us style Our settings are more in the white range.

But now I have a question, I have a 29g SPS reef, with a really flat rock reef ( 10cm - 3,9 inch ).

So I have a maxspect 420 over it, and with my Smartphone I measured 740 par at the water surface ( I can only test at the surface, its not waterproof). But with 740 par at the surface, I think will have still enough par at the bottom.

But now I See so many nice pics with the bluer look, so I tested andeave the blue at 100 and turned the white to 40 - 50 percent. Now I measured only 340 PAR at the surface. Now is my questions, is that enough par for SPS at the bottom ( montipora) . Or are you using in the US oversized LED lights that make big pars alao with no white?

Hard to say without experience with those lights. But I can tell you I have a 29 gallon with 3 cheap Ali express lights. Total of 85 watts all at 100% intensity. And it's enough, more coverage with more fixtures would be ideal . I ended up with a par meter, but before that I got a 20 dollar lux meter and vacuum sealed it so I could use it under water and then divided by 40-60 and it gave me a rough estimate range that was pretty accurate. Lastly, corals can take less light than advertised, it may not grow as aggressively, but Will be fine

Running heavy or all blues is fine for sps. Whether or not there's enough light at the bottom is unknown until you put a par meter there. Lights vary on the depth they penetrate.

Okay I packed a condom on my Smartphone and measured it, on the bottom 150 to 200 par. I think thats fine for growing. Every cm they grow, they get more par. At the half of the tank 300 to 350 par.

Thats good number, but this is with blue white ratio 1:1. If I cut the whites, then I get 40% less par. I think then it is not enough on the bottom.

You should be fine as most montis will do fine if everything else is inline. Best way is to just put a test monti frag on the bottom and monitor.
