Hello reef2reefers. Started up my first reef tank over the summer. It’s doing alright, yet to see a lotta growth but I am seeing a lot of things I’m unable to accurately ID. So I ask for your assistance…

A. These things came on a toadstool rock.

B. I see these things in the water colum sometimes swimming around… but mostly they’re on the glass. They kinda look like.. flowers..? Weeds?

C. From within a tiny crevice there seem to be some antenna looking things that sweep around. They’re kinda banded in pattern…

A - either "Aiptasia" or colonial hydroids.

B - these are medusa stage hydroids - unless they're a photosynthetic species or you have enough pods for them to feed on in the tank, they should go away after a while.

C - probably brittle/serpent starfish arms (should be harmless/beneficial).

Anything wet can bring in hitchhikers - these are probably coming in on frag plugs, CUC, etc.
