I have a frag tank that has been up and running for a while now. I’d like to make this a reef tank, so I purchased some rock and sand. I know how to startup a tank and have done it several times, but I am unsure how to do it with an already established tank.
Can someone help me out with what to do. I know that if I just put the rock and sand in the tank, it will start a cycle. Any info would help me.

Did you purchase live or dry rock?

If you’re 50% or more on new surface you will have at least a mini cycle. I have done it at about 50% and the tank did cycle through the ugly stage before settling down.
