as I mentioned in my intro post I have been out of reefing for a few years and when I was reefin, I had a wonderful 120 display with a 40 gallon sump. I just ordered my new downsized reef tank and I got the following:
Waterbox Silver marine 45.2. `30 display and 15 sump, with stand and sump
AI Prime HD and goose neck mount
Tunze 9004 protein skimmer
MP10 Quiet powerhead, wireless
Neptune Apex JR
Eheim 50 watt heater
Neptune ATO

Not sure about the sand, I don’t want to go bare bottom in the display. Seems since I was reefing Marco rock is a preferred option,- or good option to live rock

Forgot to reiterate I will keep a bonded pair of Banggai Cardinals and mostly acans

Appreciate your observations. I got a Salifert Reef test kit and refractometer. Thanks for looking and I hope helping me along

Thanks
Sounds like a great setup. Acans are my favorite!

After doing a lot more reading and research, I decided to return the Apex JR and get the full Apex with the 4 probes. If I get the EL Apex and then add the Salinity probe you are not far from the price of the Apex

I also made a decision on my quarantine tank. I went with the Waterbox 10 gallon and a reasonable LED light from Amazon....this is a quarantine tank.

In the past I used the API Master Reef Test kit but my local store does not carry them so I am trying the sea hem Marine Basic. Seems to be fine.

Started to cure the rock yesterday. I got 23# of Marco and am usin Aquavitro Seed to get the proper bacteria started. This is way different then curing live rock and going through the full cycle. Instructions say add fish after 7 days. I don’t think so at this point. Trying to figure out what bio load to use to try and start the cycle. I have also added several ceramic spheres that are proported to be good for reef filtration

Sounds like a nice setup! I was considering the Silver Marine series when it was anounced but now im not sure. I see that shipping is free on the Platnum series but its $200 for the Silver. I guess that kind of just turned me off from the Silver series. Have they started shipping the Silvers yet? When you get it will you take a bunch of pictures of the tank for us considering purchasing? I would love to see how the rear chambers look at the back of the tank! Also, what do you think of the 10 gallon? I was also considering one for a QT instead of the ugly one i currently have...

Infinite0180: I get both my tanks this week from Waterbox via my LFS. I was supposed to get the silver but was told it was upgraded to the platinum. I won’t argue if it turns out that way. I will take lots of pics and if there are specifics you want to see or measurements, just let me know

Bit of excitement. My two tanks come in tomorrow. I plan on picking up the 10 gallon AIO for a quarantine tank and then the LFS will deliver the 45.2 Platinum tank-sump-stand and will set it up and fill with Salt Water. I can't wait - will be sure to take pics of the progress.

The 45.2 Platinum just got setup and looks great thanks to Dan and Dave from Picasso exotics. Will post more pics after the water clears, I washed the sand and tried to get rid of most of the milky/cloudy debris but there is still some. I am really liking the tank being a shallow one with depth and width at 24 inches

Yes it is and I really like it so far. Can’t wait to get past the new reef syndrome where I trust the tank not to overflow. Did the power out drill three times to make sure no flooding. The 24x24 footprint opens the opportunities for aquascaping

Did you end up paying the price of the silver series? If so you really lucked out!

Awesome! Do you know roughly how much space is left between the cabinet door and the sump?

The sump is not pushed all the way back in the cabinet, there is a little less than two inches of space to push back the sump a little more (see photo attached). That being said there is almost 3 inches of space from the door to the front of the sump as it sits now. I provide the attached photo so you can see that space is by necessity based on the hinge placement. I do love that they are ‘soft close’ hinges...no more slamming of the tank door and startling the tank life
