I just bought a used bio cube with Steve’s LEDs already installed. The Auto function has disappeared. I downloaded the manual but it will not program as show in the instructions. Any ideas. Or should I just replace the lighting?

Which controller do you have ( I believe you used to have a choice of Hurricane or Bluefish mini) which biocube and "what's" not working?
Check that the ps to the controller is good and the control wire is connected and notr loose/ broken.

There is no easy way to remotely "diagnose" your issue.

A new Hurricane X is $84 IF it is that. Hard to tell.
Did you try writing to Steves? I know that there has been some prolonged delays in customer service.

I just posted this vid for fun..

I have a Hurricane X. I have sent Steve’s Two emails and one voice mail. No response. There are just two wires going to the controller? I can’t find a wiring diagram. Someone suggested just put it a separate timer. That maybe a solution. But that that gives me day on and day off. I would try a new Hurricane X controller if anyone from Steve’s would contact me so I could order one.

Well starting with the Hurricane.. You have of course the wall wart power supply.
Your output cable has 2 channels.
The connector is 2 separate + , - channels though the - is likely in common.

Output is generally 5v-ish PWM. Frequency ? but usually around 500Hz. Sort of Aduino default.

anyways just testing the hurricane only involves removing it from the system and probing the outputs.
At 100% each channel should read 5v-ish.
As you dim and the fact most meters will average voltage over time (the real output is more like 5v,0v,5v,0v over a "duty cycle") So if you set the channel at 50% you should read about 2.5V (5v 50% of the time, 0 v 50% of the time.. average 2.5V )

Current is low.

Trick is is the + , - "up down" or "left right"
Historically the channel pair is up/down. Do not believe you can screw the measurement enough to damage the hurricane BUT I make no guarantees.

Replace them. I had a biocube 32 with them and they were not that great. Also the support from Steve's LED was lacking. I went with 2 AI Blade Grows 12" and one Glow 12". They fit under the hood which is great and my coral loved the blades. I was able to grow all types of coral (sps, lps, mushrooms, zoas, ect.)

Good luck getting anybody to respond back to you. I had the same problem.

If you want to keep the hood then Aqua illumination led Blades is your best option, as far as turn key. Loose the hood and go for a Radion XR15 is another route.

Here's mine with AI Blades
