Has anyone built a system from Steves LEDs using the paramax2 extreme boards? I am seriously considering them on my 300 gallon and integrating into my apex. Would like some opinions of others who have used them before I pull the trigger. Thanks

I've not ordered that model let alone heard of it. However, I have ordered, and used, a 29 gallon bio-cube retro fit that worked as advertised and very well at that. Only thing at the time that was garbage with that setup was the initial power supply he included which was a meanwell knock off. He fixed that rather quickly after we started to report fan failures.

Anyway support is good. Product that I purchased was good. I also ordered a 29 gallon biocube retro from Rapid LED. So can compare at least on that level. Both are good and I've also purchased other DIY stuff from them. So all I can really say is that has a business they are fine and honest and support what they sell.

his products are pretty solid. I'm not a huge fan of his inhouse drivers though. I wish he offerd mint and other exotic led choices in his boards, but he does sell them as individual diodes. look into Blueacro and Nanobox as well they are similarly priced and a comparable product to look into as well.

I like steve's and have had many conversations with them.

Their products have always been good. I have never used their drivers though.

I also used his 8LDD up board and pwm converter. Not sure I mentioned that in my original post. 8LDD board isn't bad, it works pretty good. PWM module is a bit tricky to get working with the Apex but after a few email exchanges it was up and operational. That could by my ignorance of how I thought it worked rather than his design though if truth be told.

My main complaint is the wire connection choices he made. I'm not a huge fan of them and they tend to break if you try and release a wire too many times. For me anyway it is a challenge.

Nanobox stuff looks alittle small for a 300 gallon deep dimension.

Talking the pucs he sells not the actual lights.

His are 11 led boards Steve's is 14. Your going to need a lot of either to light a 300 gallon tank. My guess is prolly at least 12 prolly closer to 18-24 off the cuff guess
