Hey , y’all have been so helpful thanks . There is google and then there is real life. So, I goggle and then I ask you guys :) I am ready to add the next thing to my 20 gallon couple month old , nano reef.

LPS setting on my Aquarstar G5. Turned down low and raised 13 inches high. Will be adjusting as needed.

Duncan
Fender bender
Splatter hammer
Hairy green mushroom
Tiny bush of dragons breath macro algae

2 baby clowns
4 chromes
1 yellow watchman

A knobby brown brittle
A strawberry conch
2 Mexican turbos
6 astraes

Things are great. What next ?

I’m thinking about a candy cane for sure just because. But, what else.
No zoas or plats ,, the least toxin as possible.
For fish I want to get a Ben cardinal ? Maybe Also , I want to put a stylo on my highest rock in the biggest flow. Suggestions on which one. In the past I have a blueberry that did well in my mostly LPS.
suggestions ??? Greatly appreciated ❤️😊

Your tank is already overstocked from a fish perspective. The chromis will pick each other off eventually in such a small space, so I would recommend rehoming all but one to prevent that from happening. You could get a pistol shrimp to pair with your YWG, but no more other fish.

I think your done for fish, thats a very full 20 gallon.

Coral wise, go nuts, no real issues there other than managing parameters.

You mean you have 7 fish in your 20 gallon? Thats very overstocked, and not a good choice of fish.... with 2 clowns and 4 chromes in that small tank, they are going to rumble, there will be death.

Thanks. I will watch the cromes. I’ve had them before and seen the bullying to literal death But these four came together and they swim in unison. No problems at all ,, yet. But , will possibly change that with an addition , good advice. Sometimes people say the more fish the less fighting. To an extent.

That advice of more fish=less aggression comes the African cichlid hobby, and really isn't applicable to saltwater fish since they come from a completely different environment and occupy different niches. The chormis will school together when you/first added, but as they mature they will start to become more territorial. So I would keep a close eye on them! Best of luck with finding the recommendations for the corals!

So far they are harmonious. So, time will tell.
It is a reef tank. I was more interested in coral suggestions. Only been in that for 4 years. I’ve been keeping fish for o er 30 years. If I see a problem. I will take the necessary steps. But , right now. Nothing but playing in peace. Thanks 😊 I know everyone is looking out. I sometimes run 4 tanks at once. I can move fish around if they become unhappy.

Thank you. The more is better was just a joke. An example of all the crazy , contradictions you hear. I don’t go by that at all. But, interesting history. I take in all advice and mix that with my own personal experience and go from there. :)

Ah, gotcha!! yeah that advice has been spread everywhere, far beyond its practical application unfortunately.

I am in agreement with not overstocking fish but, my tank is not overstocked , at the moment lol. I’m wondering. What coral I should put on a rock that sits midway , like a stepping stone between a rock with a Duncan higher and a rock with a hairy green mushroom on the rock lower :)

Perhaps some zoanthids?

Torches
Frogspawn
Cynarina
Micromusa
plates
trachy
gonis
Thanks. I have 3 rocks. On one side of the tank. A hairy green mushroom left and lowest. Then an empty rock ( looking for something here ) and a Duncan on the next rock up.
Perhaps some zoanthids?
I am trying to stay away from them. Just because of the level of toxins. I am trying to keep to a minimum. The tank is next to my bed. My grandkids sometime help me work on it. Etc. I know they all post some sort of toxin but, some are worse than others.

I think so too :) I have a hammer in a rock midway. Put a torch ontop of that rock make that rock euphyllia garden .
Then again maybe not. It may be too close to the hammers even at the top . Maybe his own rock

You should really get a bigger tank honestly if you like fish. I wouldnt pit anything but a clown pair and a goby in a 20 gallon. I came from freshwater and wanted a nicely stocked 20 gallon, went to the LFS to talk to them and they were like uh yeah saltwater is completely different. Less fish is better for small tanks and tanks in general as much as that sucks to hear

I have bigger tanks. I’m starting this 20 gallon to seed my 75 .right now all I have in there is 2 tiny clowns 1 chrome and a watchman.. I had a fully stocked 75 with fish and coral. Did great for a long time. Then crashed on my birthday when one took over and poisoned everything dead. :( 1,000’s down the drain. Anyway. , i don’t plan on anything in this tank being long term
