Hi everyone,
I’m looking for some stocking ideas for my nano marine setup. I started the tank on January 24th, so it’s been running a little while now and things have settled in nicely.
The tank is a Fluval Evo 52L, and at the moment I’m planning as if it’s fishless while I decide on the best stocking route. I’d like to keep things sensible for the size — nothing too heavy on bioload — but still have a bit of movement and personality in the tank.
I’m open to a mix of fish, inverts, and maybe eventually some easy corals. Ideally looking for:
A couple of small, compatible fish (or even a single “centrepiece” fish)
Interesting clean-up crew suggestions
Anything a bit unique that works well in a tank this size
I’d also appreciate any advice on stocking order and timelines for adding livestock.
Thanks in advance — keen to hear what you’d all go for in a 52L!

Welcome. :-)

Royal Gramma and Neon Goby make a nice nano mix.

Or you could try the Clown Goby, and or Citron Goby.

I like Dotty Backs as well but the can be aggressive in small tanks.

Variegated Urchin once the tank starts growing algae or you can feed and supplement Nori Strips.

Look into Macro Algae Nanos.

A bonded pair of Black Occs and a RBTA.

Thank you 👍

You could do a tailspot blenny. Clown gobies would be fun. Even a firefish.

Sexy shrimp are great in nano tanks.
