Hello everyone,

Have a 40g tall reef tank w a protein skimmer, mostly with zoas, mushrooms, some tube/coco worms. For fish I have a ywg, wheelers goby, yellow head jawfish, captive bred clown, firefish and mandarin (captive bred) along with fire and peppermint shrimp and cuc. As you can see most of my fish are bottom dwellers. Looking for some fish ideas that will bring a bit more life to the tank and be compatible with above. TIA!

How long has the tank been running? 6 fish is already close to max for the tank.

The issue will be territory more than the chemistry involved. Have to decide if there will be enough places for all the fish to have a safe spot of their own.

Agreed. Thats why was thinking perhaps a fish thats more in the middle to upper levels of the tank which is fairly unoccupied and perhaps something not too big and peaceful

Eventually they all go to the rocks though instead of the open top.

My suggestion as a more open water fish and easy care for this size is gonna be a Bangaii Cardinal. It won't hide amongst the rockwork at least. I've always liked them, and they are usually quite hardy....
