Finally got the 100 gallon up and running with decent visibility. Fish and 1 coral transferred over and thriving. Need to figure out my light situation. The flow seems to be pretty decent.

What would your fish and coral stocking recommendations be?

I currently have 2 clowns, 3 blue green chromis, 1 yellow head sleeper goby, and a lawnmower blenny.

I’ve been thinking about tangs for while. Not sure if it’s feasible to do a tomini or whitetail paired with a purple or yellow. I have my concerns but it would be cool to do both

Yeah, a pair like that may be a bit difficult, what is the length of your tank? And do you have at least 2 separate caves large enough for them when full grown? If you add the kole/tomini first, and the yellow/purple after, it could work. Better results if you go for equally sized tangs (preferably on the small side) or get a smaller zebrasoma than the tomini/kole, since they are not too agressive. I think it could work.

48 inches and there are hiding places on opposite sides of the tank. I’ve heard both scenarios. Add the purple second and then also add at the same time. That keeps me torn

Personally id add the purple second. Adding both at the same time is for fish of equal territoriality or aggression. Always add more aggressive or territorial fish after other less aggressive fish establish their own territory. 48” is plenty, and having several caves sounds good. With coral growth, it will be enough habitat for them, so i would say go ahead! Start with small ones though, dont want a full grown purple bullying everything.

You could definitely do a whitetail and yellow, the purple I wouldn't do they tend to be a lot more aggressive than the yellow

Do you have to rehome your hippo tang? I worry that 48” isn’t long enough for one and I’d have to rehome when it gets bigger

I keep a yellow and a two spot bristletooth in a 36x22x22" tank and they get along great. Ive never even seen a tail swipe from either. The yellow is a wild caught and was in first. They've been together over 2 years now.

I have a purple in with 8 other tangs and its peaceful but my purple is mellow. I've had my purple 8+ years and I had a hippo for 5 years but I'm not sure I would recommend either in a 4ft tank. I actually upgraded from a 72x24x24" 180g to a 84x30x25" 330g because I felt the tangs were looking cramped.

This guy uses every bit of the 7ft tank but its relaxed cruising the tank swimming not pacing back and forth.
