I’m almost done finishing up my aquarium. I have a 60 gallon breeder with a 20 gallon sump. I’ve bought my skimmer (Reef Octopus 110-int) and I’m ready to start adding more fish. I’m doing 10% weekly water changes and plan on adding macro algae to my refugium soon.

I currently have a pair of ocellaris clownfish and I’m going to be adding a one-spot Foxface. Apart from these fish, what else can I add? Any cool fish recommendations? Any help is appreciated!

There’s a slight chance you might have a little aggression with the tang and fox face but you should be fine.

These are some good options from the top of my head:
Flame angel or coral beauty
Yellow or tomni tang
Marine betta
Yellow head jawfish
A pair of cardinals

Foxface is too big for a 60 gallon. Its a 9 inch fish easy

Is this the maximum amount of fish I should have?

I forgot to mention that I’m planning on having coral and a mixed reef and so I’m a bit unsure of the angelfish. Is it a high risk getting the angelfish? If so, I’ll get a Melanurus wrasse instead.

As for the one spot Foxface (Siganus unimaculatus), don’t they only reach up to 8"? I’m seeing online that it’s the smallest foxface and that it’ll fit in 4' long tanks.

Like 10 to 12, give or take, depending on filtration.

Also I agree with the other guy about the fox face but you already got it so…oh well.

On liveaquaria it says that yellow tangs and the one spot foxface grow to be the same size (8"). It also says that the Foxface is less aggressive.

So what makes the tang fit and not the Foxface?

Personally, I wouldn’t do a yellow tang or a foxface. They are both large, active fish as adults and will get aggressive in a 4’ tank. Can they fit? Yes. Are they a compatible long term fit? In my opinion, no. I’m sure there are people that have kept them successfully in a tank like yours but it isn’t worth the risk of them getting aggressive IMO. I would stick with a dwarf angel as your centerpiece fish, and if you want a tang get a tomini. They’re much better suited for a tank of your size.

I would cancel. And I wouldnt put the yellow tang in either. 60g is too small for either of those honestly

If its a yellow fish youre looking for several dwarf angels have a very beautiful yellow color, like the bi-color, lemon, and harolds.

This is a yellow in a 65g for 4 years, grew only to 4” Do things your way!
Notice the blue! Where be those cops!

Maybe a copper band if you can get it locally, see him eat, and feed same.

Since the Foxface and yellow tang have mixed opinions online on whether they’ll fit or not, I’ll only get one of the two. I’ll get it alongside a Kole tang to replace the other. Most people online seem to agree that the Kole tang would fit in a 60g, 4' tank.

I don’t want to get a fish that’ll be unhappy but I also don’t want to get a fish that I don’t really want just for the sake of filling the tank. I’m sure that in a couple of years I’ll upgrade the tank size.

Which of the two would be a better pick? The one spot seems to be more peaceful although it grows faster and into a bigger size. However, I’m not sure how the yellow tang and the Kole tang would interact.

Would not do foxface cause of their size. Would not do yellow tang with the kole tang in that tank either, asking for issues IMO.

If you're after a yellow fish, get a lemonpeel angel instead of a YT or foxface. The blue highlights make them better looking than either of the other options IMO. Everyone starts their tank with plans to upgrade in the future, but it isn't really fair to the fish to leave their future space requirements on a tank upgrade that may or may not happen. Some people have made it work in a tank your size, but you're taking a gamble on the well being of the fish by doing so.
