This bubblegum digi just keeps spreading. I need the space for my acros, and can’t remove the rock without collapsing my scape. Murder is the only option!

Unsuspecting digi:

45 minutes of kalk paste with minimal tank flow:

I will post a pic of the result tomorrow.

I don't think there's many corals in my tank that catch my eye as much as my bubblegum.
Even ones that were 20x the price.
So this hurts my heart a little :face-with-tears-of-joy:

Well, I hit it again this morning. That should about do it!

If you look at the two pics, you can see I broke off several pieces. I’m going to grow it back out on an isolated rock.

Bubblegum digi has a great color that you can’t get from acros, but it spreads too fast! Acros are completely my priority!

Happy Reefing!

I mean I would have chopped it up to the base them kalked it. Less kalk to deal with and killing only a small amount, could sell the frags.

It's interesting your digi spends so much time encrusting - mine is entirely the opposite. Hardly encrusts at all, but gets super big and branchy. They eventually fall over from no longer being able to support their own weight. I wish they'd do a LITTLE encrusting.

I always broke off the limbs. It grows like crazy and tries to take up too much space!

So sad to have to kill such a beautiful coral ! Heck I can't afford let alone keep something like that alive ! Such a nice tank ! Judging by that picture ! Have a great day!

I had to do something similar to a green digi. They grow so fast and out competed some of my more sensitive acropora. I had gotten to the point where I was throwing away frags as I couldn’t even give them away, and it was taking up too much room

I recently took a 6" x 6" chunk of BG digi to my local reef club coral auction, I got $8 for it. It grows so fast you can't keep up with it, no one in our group really wants it, it is truly a reef weed that needs to be culled from time to time. I reluctantly kept a piece of mine in my frag tank, it will literally grow 1/2" a week.
