stray voltage in tank

well I noticed the other day a few of my coral was not looking good. I started my WC and noticed a bit of a shock I added a ground probe and I think it took care of it but not sure as the only reason I felt it the 1st time was because I had a cut on my finger.:cry:
So question is what can I use to find out if its been taking care of and to narrow it down to whats putting the electicity in the tank

I dont think I can just it to test for voltage ;) Yes it could be as its 1 of the 3 only things. The only things in the tank that use power is heater, skimmer and return pump:tongue:

Borrow a meter if you can.

try this
if you have a meter. unplug each electrically item one by one until you no longer see the electrical current. whichever item that you have unplugged, is more than likely to be the cause of the stray electrical current
but I agree with OCKMED, its probably the heater (I have the same issue)

I had the same thing with my auto top off. Each time I touch the light fixture with my hand in the tank. It would shock the hell out of me. A meter or some wires to a light bulb should be able to test it.

Only use one hand and don't ground yourself. Better yet, use a meter.

Thats the question What meter do I need? I can read a few on them but dont know what one to use. Im hoping I can find one to borrow

Just use a multimeter if you can borrow one cool, if not you can get a cheap one at WalMart for like $10 -$15. I just use my meter to test my tank and I have 30 Volts running through it. Need to find out why.
