Over the past 6 months I’ve had a build up of this stuff in my hoses. Return pump, skimmer, and UV sterilizer. The tank is a little over 3 years old. Nothing wildly out of the ordinary regarding parameters at first anyway. This stuff makes the skimmer not work as effectively once it starts building up so since this has been happening, parameters have been up and down, but prior parameters were reasonable.
It doesn’t look like sucked up food. If a piece breaks off and makes in into the display tank, it look feathery or stringy on the ends. None of the fish will touch it.
I looked at it with both a stereo microscope and a regular one and couldn’t make out anything of value. It had normal microbes among it but I couldn’t make out the. Stuff. Just looked like blobs and maybe stringy stuff but that didn’t seem to make up the majority of it, at least with the magnification I have.

Any ideas so I can get rid of / control it?
