Why a bleach cure? To remove the algae? There is a possibility that a encrusting coral could take shape over the coral skeleton, but you are better off removing it and giving it a bleach cure if you want to utilize it in your scape.
I think you would want to use a faster growing encrusting coral so you could try cyphastreas or encrusting montis.
I'm more curious how you killed a stylo colony this size.
Yes makes sense would be cool if it followed the pattern thoI would not clean or or bleach it in any way. It kills any bacteria and creates a clean surface. Algae grows great on a sterile surface compared to one full of bacteria.
In my experience encrusting coral will cover it, but with branches that close is going to jump between branches and ends up looking more like something draped over it(with ridges and valleys but not keeping the existing coral definition at all)
Agreed. I have done this with Porites, since they take forever to branch. The skeleton was an acropora. You won’t be able to see the exact shape and texture of the prev coral.I would not clean or or bleach it in any way. It kills any bacteria and creates a clean surface. Couldn’t tell you, had icp done nitrates and phosphates were high but I don’t think that would cause this.
pretty sure I had some form of contaminant in the tank as over the course of maybe 3 days I lost a lot, months, stylo bird nests drags, few torch’s and hammers too.
Literally everything in the tank was closed for a week or so except pulsing Xenia and mushrooms. Added a poly filter and the next day coral started opening up again.
