This is a good article.

Here's a photo of mine, but if I did it again I would add a bubble trap with the second baffle.

I have the same breeder tank i need to make a sump out of. I was thinking of using glass sheets and a glass cutter to make the baffles. How did you make your baffles and what silicone did you use?

I had a glass shop cut the baffles, but you could use a glass cutter. I used 1/4 glass. Most glass sheets at hardware stores are a lot thinner, so make sure it's the right thickness. I just used 100% silicone from ace. I know that's not the best, but for baffles it works.

Make sure to let the silicone setup of at least 4 days before use, just to make sure the silicone is dry.

I went to a local glass shop and had 5 pieces cut and safety edged for my baffles. 17 3/8" X 11" and that's 1/4" thick glass. I was left with a 14L" X 18W" X 11T" for a frag tank. Total cost for baffles and silicone $44.
