I’m setting up a 40 gallon breeder DIY sump and I’m hoping if someone could give me some advice and ideas on my design I don’t want stagnant water so I created this design let me know what you guys think if this is good or not I’ll be running a eco-tech marine L2 Vectra pump to drain is 1 1/2 inch pipe and the return is a 1 inch pipe

I getting ready to do a diy sump kind of like this except skimmer in the drain section and a refugium in the middle section. Your design will work for sure, just personal preference for most part.

If the first section is for filter socks, I would remove all but the one baffle that water passes below. Bio balls are not used much anymore. The section just before the pump would be an over-under-over bubble trap.
