Can someone explain to me what goes where in this sump and what I need to buy. I’ve always used canister filters so this is new. I have a sicce 5.0 return pump and a protein skimmer. I can attach more photos if needed.

It LOOKS like the drains (where water enters the sump) are as circled below… water would then (I think) go clockwise from there…

It’s very hard to say for sure without a side view of each side of this particular sump!

The easiest way to determine what goes where is to keep in mind that a sump moves water via gravity only… water cascades from the highest chamber to the lowest… usually you can follow the intended flow path just by looking at how water moves under, over, and through all the plastic baffles to flow downhill! (Though it is harder when the sump is built with both front and rear chambers, vs. 2D!)

I would look at the manufactures website and hope there are pictures of one set up, or maybe instruction on what each chamber was built for.

I can’t find this exact sump. Someone said it was an older model eshopps.

hmm...looking at the picture that shows a top view.
Need pictures of the vertical chamber dividers to get a beeter idea of what the design is.
But I am going to say for now that water travels counter clockwise.
Chamber 1 water intake
water then goes to
Chamber 2 skimmer area, can't see if there are water passage in this chamber wall between 2 and 3
Chamber 3 for reactors, refug (don't do it big mess) or good area for live rock
Then passes through look like a foam block maybe 1 inch thick or a bubble trap ( which I feel is worthless)
Then to Chamber 4 could be uses for carbon or reactors
Then looks like another foam block before last chamber 5
Chamber 5 return pumps. ..
This is only my guess from building sumps...

This is the eshopps adv-200 I believe. I have the same one.

Water comes in though the blue circle and goes to refugium on the first blue vertical arrow. It then flows from the refugium to the red arrow pointing to the left. It uses a rectangular filter sock on the horizontal blue arrow and goes into the skimmer, heater area. From there it goes underneath the drain portion where the rectangular red arrow is and into the bagged filter media tray. Make sure that clear acrylic tray you have the rectangular cut out facing the hole in the rerun pump section (white acrylic). With the filter media tray you can put bagged carbon etc in it.
