Hi there,

I’m planning on getting started on a DIY project. I’m thinking of starting out with a 45 Gallon Display (still figuring out the display) and a 20 gallon sump. I would like to do the plumbing of the sump myself. Does anyone have any videos or tutorials (diagrams, guides, etc.) that would help get started? Like ones that you used that were helpful to get an understanding of the supplies needed.

Thank you in advanced for your help.

This is a very good comprehensive overview with diagrams:

And this one talks about the actual cutting and glueing of PVC. I highly recommend getting a PVC cutter rather than using a hacksaw like they suggest. Its like a big scissors that cuts PVC like butter. I also recommend the blue lava cement as it cures faster and doesn’t require priming.

Once you have the cutting and glueing down, the sky is really the limit. I would encourage you to experiment and try to think through the design yourself. PVC is really easy to work with and its almost like a puzzle or a lego project. Have fun with it!
