I am new to using the Neptune controller so question may be silly. Need advice on what to purchase and any suggestions.

Picked up an A2, eb832, and 2x Dos with sensors/probes and finally trying to actually use them.

Tank is a RS S1000 - Think I am going to be doing a reset on my tank soon so trying to get projects I want to do inline.

Things I am looking to do-
-sensor/float in sump for max height - I am setting up a gravity feed ATO from my mixing station and looking to ad a NC shut off solenoid inline.
-a sensor/float to my skimmer catch bucket to shut down skimmer when it is full.

Am I better off going with the FMM and optical sensors or the I/O and a mechanical float sensors?

I know the I/O can do other things also like momentary buttons to trigger feed modes, magnetic switches on door to trigger lights/alert me. This may be more useful to me over the FMM w/ flow monitoring. may be nice but I would only use it on my CalRX effluent line and its not really that needed I don't think. Probably wouldn't use leak detection either.

The idea is a backup to the ATO float valve failing. NC incase power outage. This is the most important item.
When triggered I also want it to pause Kalk dosing and alert me.

After typing all this and putting it down to really think about I think I will go with the I/O board and float sensors.

any suggestions??

Thank you
Ken

I hear more about optical sensors failing WAY more than I hear of float switches failing. I'd had a second float switch just as a precaution... or add a float switch with the optical for insurance.

I personally don’t use any float sensors just the optical sensors. I trust the sensors more than float just from a trust standpoint personally. I have a sensor In my ato but everything else I just have things programmed to stop. Never had a problem with skimmer over flowing but you might so you can always add soemthing. Also have everything on fallback off so if a power outage happens they automatically turns off and stay off
