Okay, you’re probably still good then; it’s unlikely that the beneficial bacteria in the live rock has died off!

You’ll want to move all the rock (and any livestock!) to a dedicated plastic container (large tote, trash can, bin, etc!) with tank saltwater and some sort of water moving pump to keep it alive while you clean the rest of the system up for starters…

This assumes the system still has saltwater in it after the move! — putting the rock in fresh water will kill off the beneficial bacteria living in its porous structuthank you

Do I take out the bio from the sump or run the citric acid through it as well? No I took the clownfish out and put her in my other tank but there is some like mushrooms on one of the rocks

Yes, bio media goes in with the rock in tank water in the “keep alive” container!

You will want to be careful to place the rock with mushrooms on top of the pile in the rock container so they aren’t at risk of getting crushed…

Run the system with no rock, bio media, or sand in it, just tap water and citric acid!

Take out any bio balls, rocks, corals, etc and place them in your other tank or a separate container with saltwater. You may need a heater and small powerhead if keeping them in a bucket or container.

Citric acid will kill anything that’s living, but it will clean everything really well.

Just trying to get you a clean and fresh start for the greatest chance of success.

I just wing it lol. You are better off adding too much than not enough.

I would get something like this and just dump the whole bag in. It may be worth grabbing two bags…so you have extra just in case. It’s also great for cleaning your pumps in the future. Just make sure you rinse everything with fresh water after using it.

In a recent used acrylic tank cleaning thread; 1oz of citric acid powder per 10gal water was recommended!

I just wing it lol. You are better off adding too much than not enough.
