Sunset monti

Where do u guys place your sunset months? I've had one for about a year and no significant growth. I have a 55 with sbreef lights

I placed mine halfway down, currently running 2 ai primes, the growth has been good. First pic is from June the day i got it, the second one is now.

I have had mine on the bottom of my 24 in deep tank and it's nuts good (ai sol)

I have had one on the glass 6-8in from the top of My 20in deep tank and it blew up. (Sbreeflight light )
It's currently a bit shaded and on the bottom and has slowed in growth. Also has less flow.

I'd say it's a med to high light coral , and likes excellent flow.


What are you're settings and photo period ? How high above the tank?

Although , id suspect flow.

Light is on tank using the legs it comes with. I'd say blue is 60 to 70 percent, whites 5, blues on 12 hours, whites I think 4

I have my sunset off to the side about halfway up the tank it's a slow grower I will say but it's growing

It you want the fastest growth I would say med light and decent flow. Lower light and my pylops stay green a little higher up and get more yellow, but that could also be something else..

I'll throw the meter on mine tomorrow and see what I get at that distance and those %.

IMO you would benefit from some more white. The red kick would be quite benifical. .

Your correct, the pink is a mystic sunset

Mine has been a fast grower and always has great colors that really pop. It's on the bottom of my 75 under 6x48 T5's.

I picked it up from a guy that had it on one of those 3 or 4 frag rocks and I didn't habe anything to cut it off so I left it.

I have the same monti I got it as a mystic sunset. 46 bow front tank with 1 Sb reef 16” it’s about 10 inches from the light at a 45 degree angle from the light 50% whites and 60% blues over a year span it’s grown about a 5” circle when my let’s turn on I’ll post a pic.

Nitrates undetectable along with phos

lower light the better for these guys... if you put them in intense light they will bleach. I have a huge colony at about 120 par and it grows amazing
