Supper ideas

Ever get to the point you have no idea what to make because you are tired of everything. Let's see what kind of ideas everyone has trying to think of a nice meal to make the family.

I like comfort food. When I am bored, get some nice cube steak, coat with flour and egg and saute in olive oil. Make homemade mashed potatoes and enjoy. simple and easy.

I can't think of anything since my family seems to have the same issue......I did want to ask who calls it supper and who calls it dinner? I have relatives from Michigan that call it supper...it seems to change depending on where you are located.

Grilled chicken, spinach, mushrooms, alfredo sauce, pick your noodles. Add just a bit of pesto for some zing ;) It's a winner every time in my house, though I save it for times like this where I'm just sick and tired of everything.

Korean skirt steak tacos. That would be last meal :)
Bibim bap (Korean rice and veggie dish)
Clam chowder with scratch made bread sticks (just made some yesterday)
Sloppy joes
Potato and leek croquettes

I have recipes for all of the above and about another 100 or so :) My wife gets bored of recipes pretty quickly.

EDIT: And we say "dinner" round these parts. :)

Now we're talking wound up making nachos with home made chili. And then we did chicken fried steak with fresh black eye peas and mashed sweet patatos.

Homemade pizza is easy, fast, and fun... We do it every so often. Just buy whatever toppings you want, a jar of pizza sauce, and we use the pre-made Pillsbury pizza dough you find near the biscuits and cinnamon rolls. It's rectangular, but we just kinda toss/spread it into a circular or elliptical shape.

Ask the guests to do pot luck style . The host provides utensils and drinks.... Being a host for every Christmas and Thanksgiving for 8 straight years, we started to go off site for vacation instead of staying home and serve...

A very quick and easy meal are tacos....one package of taco shells, a pound a hamburger, a taco mix packet, pre-shredded mexican cheese, sour cream and whatever fixings you want with these....lettice, onions, salsa, etc.. My kids always thought this was a "special" dinner.


Another favorite and easy meal was tuna macaroni....a box of macaroni (cooked), celery and onion and a couple cans of tuna and then add mayo....easy-peasy!

I'll throw a spin on it to make it fun for the kids, I lay wax paper over the hole table and but all the fixings directly on the wax paper and everyone eats with no plates and we have a messy taco good time! Clean up is as simple as removing the wax paper and throwing it away!

Last year we had 17 types of seafood on Christmas Eve, but my favorite, linguini and clams is hard to grill. The linguini keeps slipping through the grill. :eek:

@Paul B , I know you're just yanking our chain, but for small stuff (or in lieu of grill baskets), grill mats are the way to go. They look like a sheet of plastic but amazingly can take the heat.

I use a grill basket for veggies. They make grill pans too. :)
