here are 2 frags i got in the trade........the other frags need to heal up a bit before i can bring them home

HUGE frag of alien eye chalice, completely covers the frag disk....i counted 13 fully mature mouths!

IMG_1791.jpg

BTW.....do these chalices ever need to be spot fed like acans/micros need to be periodically?

here is the acro frag i got. i really liked the colony b/c it was bushy with thin coralites. has an aqua green base color, and blue/purple tips.

acropora chesterfieldsis is what i am told....thanks to steven ;)

nothing new here.....just a few acan/micros

my 1 lone acan :(

IMG_1794.jpg

red marble micro that has some blue and white splotches in a random patterns.

although, i gota admit....the polyps are rather large......just as big as the acan......but where i got it from it was called a micro.
IMG_1793.jpg

UFO micromussa......hasn't grown very much

IMG_1792.jpg

......i think i've about completely lost my purple haze micro.....sucks too, cuz i had a nice colony going of about 20 polyps, then they all receeded one day back in the spring, i managed to keep a couple polyps alive, and now i'm down to about 2-3polyps. :(

Great shots and peices Al, is that flower petal a cap? I want it.....:)

yup, flower petal monti. i have had 2 other blue polyp caps, and i like this one the best. the blue polyps are much more "blue" than the other two.......and the polyps are a bit larger. the green cap is also a little more green giving a better contrast to the blue polyps.

i'm hoping it will develop a purple rim, b/c the other 2 didnt.

thanks everyone. i'm just kinda coasting at the moment and leaving the tank alone (except i cant seem to get the skimmer to skim constantly).

i did build a frag rack in the back of the tank the other day. i used those super strong algae-free magnets.

although one of my nano-stream pumps broke.......AGAIN.....this is my 3rd replacement set.......getting kinda irritated with tunze now......

up to the top, hey Al, what are you feeding your sps?

i'm not feeding them anything :)

Looks great.

Also, what piece of the tunze broke? I had to ask on rc for a replacement bracket about a month ago. The little teeth kept breaking off? Are you having the same problems or different ones?

wow, been a while since i updated. nothing really new, just been messing with my skimmer, adjusting some things in the sump etc.

i'm going to put in some new 4" radioshack PC fans into my canopy, and take out the noisy 3" icecap fan which is driving me nuts.

i got a new chalice frag! :D it doesn't have a name, but i've been drooling over it for a while.

Al! This stuff is a serious pain! I could never get rid of it or find anything that would eat it. It just kept growing no matter what. I still have all of the rock from my 75g SPS tank where I had this plague. Instead of putting the rock in vats when I broke down the tank, I just dried it out for a few months and I am now cooking it. I really hope this stuff doesn't come back. I originally got it from a wild sps colony. If I were you, I would isolate any rock that has ANY sign of it. Good luck.

well, thats beyond impossible now, maybe back in january i could have done that, but i've got it on just about all of my rock.......granted, the pic above is the worst.

i've heard rabbit fish and sea hares will eat it, so those are my next steps. only prob is rabbit fish also may eat zoas. :(

i've also seen accounts of people cooking the rock for up to 6mos with this stuff, and it still came back :(
