swc 300 skimmer questions

i just received my swc 300, wow its huge!! this thing looks like a 5gallon bucket with pumps coming out of it. i bought it used and the guy who had it before had one of the two sicce pumps go out so he upgraded to the enheim pump. my question is i have a awesome external pump that does 2400gph, is there a way to use the external pump to power the beast with a modded air intake?

the other question is, it came in pieces and im putting it back together. for any one who knows anything about swc, i got the clear air box on top with a piece of pipe about 8inches long with a slanted cut pipe in the center to a (h) shape piece. is this correct? also the short slanted cut piece has a open and close sticker on it that can line up with a arrow on the (h) looking piece. is this correct?
i cant find the exact model online and want to know if i got this right.

how do you control the air intake with this model?

can i mod this skimmer with a gate valve?

the last questions is it came with rubber hoses, it shouldn't be a problem if i swap out for a hard/stiff hose to keep it from colapsing on itself.

the picture on the right is mine, why is the (h) shape piece that turn out? and how do i control the air flow

It's bent because it's easier to adjust if the output is just above the water line in the sump. You don't really adjust the amount of air flow, but you can adjust the skimmer by twisting the pipe that goes straight upward. That will change the level of water in the raction chamber and allow you to adjust it from a wet to dry skim.
