Hello again,
After my first reef keeping experience last year, I have decided that a tank is something that I want to have for the rest of my life. As the summer and my year-long lease came to an end came to an end, I had to find a place and a way to move my tank. Fortunately, the place that I found was close and the landlord did not mind me having a tank. So I did what any young dumb college kid with a summer jobs worth of money would do, I doubled down on tank size, switched my 40 breeder into a sump, and built a new stand. I will post some closer shots when my friend with a decent camera comes to photograph it.

I added a tiger conch to my clean up crew. This guy looks really weird but he does appear to be keeping the sand cleaner.

They are very cool animals. I could spend a while watching them any time.

Male lyretail anthias. I really like how active it is as well as the pattern on his pectoral fins. Also, he is a huge pain to photograph

What are your stocking plans?
I honestly am not sure right now. My current stocking is:
Male Lyretail anthias
Redlined Wrasse
Blue Star Leopard Wrasse
Blue Chromis
Yellow-Eyed Kole Tang
Skunk Cleaner Shrimp
Tiger conch
Snails/Hermits

I am pretty satisfied right now and it is very easy to keep it clean, but I would like to add a few more fish, but I am waiting to see something that I think would be a really good fit. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I started Cleaning out the sump with a wet vac but I did not realize how much fast the pump was and I ran out of saltwater before I could finish, unfortunately.

I also made a "frag rack" by lightly gluing 5 tiles to a sawed-off piece of dry rock. Hoping to get some new frags for Christmas.

I'm a bit wiser now. See you are using your talents to have a nice tank on a student income. I'm impressed.

I am adding this as a guide for anyone trying to set up a medium budget, medium effort tank. There may be redundancies in titles to make it easier to find

120 Gallon Tank Equipment

120 Gallon Tank Set-Up

120 Gallon Tank- Drilled center overflow with 2 inch Durso

Giesemann Aurora LED and T5 Hybrid Fixture 4 feet

40 Breeder Sump with self added acrylic baffles. Divides the sump into three sections

1 Gallon jug with the top cut off around the overflow pipe to lessen salt creep

Eshopps Skimmer

Two Eheim 150W heaters (see controller section for more details) have two spares. Replaced every 1.5 years

Rio 1700 Return Pump - Always have a spare on hand

2 MP40s on Reefcrest mode set to max power

Ecotech battery backup shared by the two powerheads

Neptune Apex Controller
