T-5 bulbs

Just replaced my stock bulbs with t-5 Giesemann bulbs what a difference. Corals and fish are really popping them colors now. I never thought bulbs would make that much difference.

How old were they? I try to change my bulbs once a year and boy oh boy does it brighten up my tank. You don't realize how bad they get.

I Chang my bulbs every 6months to make sure par does no change much over time. Just changed 8 24" at I bulbs on my at I fixture and 8 48" at I bulbs on my 48" at I fixture. Looks much better now. The bulbs I just replaced were only 4 months old still got much life in them.

12months IMO is too long. You start to get a spectrum that is not too good for unwanted alage and corals and there color. Bestto change ever 7-9months at most.

I am with you Rob. No doubt that I should change mine more. Every time I change them I promise myself that I will change them again in 6-9 months and it always ends up being a year.

i agree with the 7 2 9 months change out . OP =what Geisemann's r u using ? I am sure there is a newer line up now . I used Hexarc t5;s which are made in the same factory . Hex Arcs are a heck of a lot cheaper but limit u to a true actinic , actinic plus and the 12k white bulb . I am not an active reefer atm .I looked around last week to see if they are still around . PA has some of the 24's on clearance for 7.00 a bulb. I saw another site that sold them for 15.00 a pop . I had no issues with the bulbs and they were a recommendation by Greg Carroll ? on a post I read .

My stock bulbs were 2 months old. I went with aqua blue coral, aqua blue azure, actinic +and super purple.
