I have a 4 bulb fixture with 2 Kessil a360x. I currently have a 2 B+, 1 C+ and 1 Aqua Blue special. This was based on BRS recommendation. This is too white for my liking even with the Kessil as blue as they go. The aqua blue is very white and have no interest in using it in future configs. My goal is to have a more blue spectrum that I could tweak whiter with the kessils if need be.

Doing some research ATI has recommendations and found some great videos to get and idea of color combos (video1 video2). For context I like option 6 in video 2 (Blue+ & Purple+). I honestly was not even thinking of P+ as it seemed as niche bulb that BRS recommended with 2 other bulb types. I also like the idea of an actinic bulb for color pop and growth. Blue+ seems very common and a standalone. Most setup I see run about 50% of the bulbs as them. This has lead me to a combo I have not really seen.

2 B+
1 Actinic
1 Purple+

Is this combo going to bad for growth? Odd Coloration?

Other combos I am considering are ATI recommendations

3 B+
1 Actinic or Purple+ (leaning actinic)

or

2B+
2C+

Any thoughts or advice would be great

Stay away from ABS or C+ if you want a more blue spectrum.

Option 1: 3 B+ and 1 P+

Option 2: 3 B+ and 1 Actinic

For what you’re trying to accomplish I think you will be quite pleased with the second option. Put the actinic in one of the middle slots. :)

For my knowledge, any reason you would not recommend P+ with Actinic?

3 B+ and 1 Actinic feels like the way I am going to go.

Purple+ is a nice bulb, but if you want more blue and actinic pop…then pick the other combo.

The Purple+ will give it a bit of purple, and it will still be blue, but you won’t have the actinic pop which really highlights the corals and also the fish!
