I am working to clean up my tank hood a bit and supply decent lighting to my inhabitants. This is potentially temporary pending the outcome. I have a 90gal with heavy acrylic euro bracing on the top. Originally I had the t5s up high with dual kessil 160s. I'm potentially moving the 160s over to my 20L which will become my frag tank. Now, I reinstalled my original hood and retro fit the fixtures with currently 4xt5 in it and am looking to add another 2. Will I run risk of melting or warping having it as close as I do to the acrylic due to heat. I believe it is still roughly 3" off the surface of the acrylic.
Old setup: (here you can see the euro brace)

Acrylic can be used safely up to roughly 190°F. Things get sketchy once you enter the 200°F+ range. At 3" I doubt you're coming even close to this temperature and you will be fine. Double check with a thermometer if you want additional peace of mind that a forum reply just can't give.
