Hello,

I got a tailspot blenny about a week ago and he is the only fish in the tank for now. He was hiding a lot at first but now is a little less shy, until I try to feed. It goes up into the corner and when I put tiny pellets in, he gets scared and squeezes way into the corner and won't eat the food.

I have plenty of algae for him to eat, which is why I bought it, and I have seen him picking at the glass when I could sneak a peak without scaring him.

Is he going to be ok? Should I just leave him be or do something else?

Try some frozen food
He probably hates pellets

Are you turning off the flow to feed to him, that might be what is freaking him out. Whatever your feeding method is, just stick to it, don't change it, the fish will learn the feeding ritual soon enough.

A lot of blennies and gobies do best with frozen or live foods at first and then get used to pellets over time. Mine feed off the tongs with my clowns. Took a while to get them used to that though!

Yes I turn off the pumps, that seems to send him into hiding... should I keep them on, or keep turning them off and letting him get used to it?

I can try frozen food, but right now he just hides from the food and doesn't even get near it so I'm not sure using frozen would help.

I never turn off flow to feed mine, but do start with frozen. Even with micro blennies and pipe fish.
