Got my Tampa bay saltwater live rock in today and after having it in the tank for roughly 10 hours I noticed these things coming out of the rock and was wondering what they were IMG_3219.jpg

the things sticking their tongues out are sponges?
The white thing in the first photo is a sponge what you circled/I thought you were talking about. Videos won’t load on mobile I’d have to bring it up on my computer.

are they worth trying to keep alive, and if i wanted to what food source would I need

Their main source of food is Phyto/Zoo plankton. They are filter feeders. I feed 50-100 ml of live plankton a day and the longest I kept them alive is a few months.

The white blob is a tunicate Condominium Tunicate, not a sponge.
Most interesting hiker see here, is the Florida corals next to the barnacle. The only way to legally obtain these is on farmed live rock. They prefer low light and target feeding.
