I just bought a 150gallon tank and on top it has a frosted piece of glass that’s siliconed in with a plastic frame around it. The plastic of the framing does not attach to the plastic rim of the tank. The panel is just siliconed to the glass, I’m assuming not adding structural support. I’m wanting to know if I can remove this piece as it does not allow light through.

Glass is .5” thick. Pictures were uploaded of the piece I want to remove! TIA

Is the plastic cross brace under it intact? Looks like maybe they added because the original bracing broke or was cut out.

The glass panel is providing significant structural support to the front and rear panels to prevent bowing. I would not remove it without replacing it with something similar (clear glass if you prefer) or eurobracing.

I also recommend not removing the brace unless you have a plan to put other bracing in place.

The plastic on the the panel is intact, but does not touch the plastic of the rim
Again - does the tank trim include cross braces that are stIll intact?

Let me ask another way - is this glass panel the only bracing connecting the front and pack panels?
