hello everyone I ordered a Nuvo 40 from BRS and it came in yesterday, you will never believe it but ups broke the glass.so talked to BRS and they are sending me a new tank they were AWESOME to work with hats off to them. I am wondering if this has happened to anyone else? If so did ups inpect the tank? If they did inspect it how did that work? Did they take it with them or were u able to keep the broken tank? I hope no one has gone threw this but I am sure it's happened looking for some insight on how there experience went
Thank you for the help

It will be a insurance issue between BRS and UPS.
They might take it with them but they want the box and all it came with as well.
The fact that BRS send you already a new tank is top notch customer service as they don't have to do that in this case.
UPS might contact you in this busy time of shipping to send pics and they will tell you how they want the pics to taken.
Good luck on your new tank my friend.

Thank you Diesel I hope they don't take it just because the filter socks in the tank are brand new and it would be nice to have an extra set already on hand. I did keep all the packing material just in case they need to see how it was packed.

Send a email out to BRS that you like to keep the filter socks.
I don't think they mind but do it the right and only way.
They already gave you the benefit of the doubt to send you a new tank.
If they want you to pay for them do be it.
I wouldn't just take them but that's me.

What a pain! Really nice to hear BRS is taking care of you. They've always been top-notch for customer support in my experience too. Nice to see that hasn't changed since my last purchase from them :)

Yeah no way I would take a advantage of them when I spoke with Zack from customer service he had me send him pictures which I did so he after he review what I sent him he informed me that they will send me a new tank and to box up the old one for UPS. So right now I have everything back in the box taped up waiting to hear from ups on if and when they will pick it up. So I am figuring if I do not hear from UPS by Tuesday or Wednesday I will call brs to see if I can buy the filter socks from them. I just do not want to take anything out of the box In till I hear from them. I don't want UPS to pick it up and say there was stuff missing from the package that came with it and have BRS get screwed over it. I'm just not that kind of person especially when not even 2 hours after I spoke with zack he had a new tank ready to ship out to me

Almost this exact same thing happened to me when I ordered a JBJ all in one from Marine Depot despite the 10 million packing peanuts they used. :) The MD staff sent me an IM Nuvo 40 which was packed better by the manufacturer and they dealt with UPS. They said to keep the tank for a certain amount of time in case UPS wanted to inspect it. I think two weeks. They never did. I then scavenged the pumps and some filter material de the tank and disposed of it. I doubt BRS will take any of that broken tank back. UPS will compensate them. It would be silly for them to pay for any of the shipment of this broken tank back to their wherehouse. It would be a waste of money. I would just call BRS and I bet they tell you the same thing. Good luck with the Nuvo tank. They can be beautiful but I highly recommend getting a better skimmer than the one IM makes for theirs. I went through a lot of nutrient issues because of inadequate skimming until I installed the installed the Aqua C Remora S. I highly recommend that. You can overflow it to a bottle under your tank. It is pretty much a set it and forget it skimmer too.

Thanks you the info sorry to hear about your Jbj tank its really disappointing when you open the box and find it broken.i was looking at that tank as well but I am really not a fan of the curved edges. I did have RT shoot me a pm to tell me I can have the filter socks out of it which is awesome to already have another pair on hand. I just wasn't sure what ups would do with the tank when they picked it up.When it comes to the skimmer how tall is it? I am trying to find a skimmer that is almost hidden in the rear chamber. I don't mind if a little sticks out from the top of tank but not to much. Thanks for all you help

The front of the tank. I've read that it's very common where some people had 3 shipped cause the others were damaged.

I hear ya there but not to worry as it's not your responsibility for them to ship it without breaking it. They'll just ship another and another and another if needed. I've heard Fex is sooooo much better. Good luck with yours.

i sometimes think that UPS and the likes will purposely throw packages even it said fragile or not get to your place on time when the box saids "live fish" so that next time ppl will avoid using their company and less work for them! especially during holiday seasons where they are so busy and frustrated. I once called UPS to try to put in a complaint for the driver/delivery and the rep told me they can't do that, basically you can't complaint even if the package is late or broken multiple times.
