I just noticed this chip when I went to fill up my tank. Had been stored for 2 years before I bought it off someone. Would this chip alarm anyone?

I cannot feel the chip.

As long as you dont see little spider web cracks growing from the chip. It’s probably 90% ok in the area that it happened. 10% anything can always happen.
Fill it up and let sit for a while to see if anything happens? Better to just get a new one? There are other chips but not on the silicone side and on the top rear.

I would also use the resin they use to fix car windshield (buy from Autozone/O'Riellys etc)....just for aesthetics.
Ok thank you. It is a Nuvo 20 that I removed the aio and drilled for a sump. Same tank on sale for $200 so considered just buying new if that is most people’s advice.

What size? How many gallons? Sounds beat up, if there’s other chips.
Just posted below same time you responded. Approximately 5 years old but 2 years in a garage prob constantly moved/hit

Based on size and location, I would deem this safe as its surface and not structural however periodically check on it to assure its not widening which it should not

Excellent. Thank you very much for your reply!

I did a fill test to make sure my pump was ok head wise. Filled to 6 gallons and only sat for 5 minutes or so before I pumped it all out.

Yeah on 20 gal tanks glass is thinner. Your probably better off getting a new one for $200. I wouldn’t use a tank with several chips …
Ok. When I get back home I’ll take pictures of the other chips just to show.

Well, I'm very conservative and wouldn't use it. But I've got PTSD from a tank swap I had to do with a leak (75g to 90g). What you have in your favor is that the tank is small. So not as much pressure per square inch compared to my old 75.

I am too. Took me 5 years to get my wife to allow me to get a small tank. We just put new floors in this month hence the nervousness.
