I haven't had to cycle a new tank in years. I started a 100 gal, it has been up for 5 weeks now. The ammonia and nitrite is near 0. And the nitrate went from .5 to 2.0. My kh is low 6. Questions- is it safe to start adding coral or wait till nitrate comes down more? Should I raise kh with bi-carb before adding coral?

I have always found out that longer I wait and closer I get my parameters to acceptable limits works best. mag., alk/calcium is the most critical I would say. get those close and drop the nitrates down a little more and your good.

Throw some microbacter in there to help get the nitrates down. I would start with softies/zoas and wait on the SPS till you have a "more seasoned" tank.
