I finally was able to set up my 90 gallon after months of planning, cleaning, plumbing, you name it! This tank was meant to combine my 3 nano tanks into 1 large tank! I still need much more rockwork and have to figure out my new lights. I have some large kenya trees and toadstools, and then some LPS corals like blastos and a frogspawn. Unfortunately when I look at the tank I cant help but feel like something is missing.

2x mochavinci clowns
royal gramma
midas blenny
tomini tang
pink spotted goby
pygmy hawkfish
melanurus wrasse

I feel like on paper I have all the bases covered, but at the same time when I look at the tank it feels empty and lacking personality.

Long story short, does anyone have any ideas of how to spruce up my tank and make it look more full/lively!

Do you have a picture? It looks like maybe one was uploaded but it’s giving me a corrupt symbol.

If you try to fill it now it will look overgrown and crowded when things mature unless you constantly trim stuff back.

This is the most recent one I have (don’t mind the cat lol)
I see the picture now, are you trying to keep the aquascape low?

I just did the opposite with my tank and added another 60lbs of rock and raised the entire structure while creating a bunch of caves and channels for fish to go through. This really made the tank “POP”. Here’s a pic for reference and ideas?

I was finally able to see your tank pic. I agree with @Reef Jedi about having a base of live rock to elevate everything.

I’m with Jedi, just need some more foundation rock in my opinion. More area for beneficial bacteria, more area to place corals, and more places for fish and inverts to take shelter.

Don’t have to do it all at once and I’d also consider using live rock only or at least mostly if possible. That said, tank looks good. Good luck.

I would actually love if left side of the rockwork would be low, so fish could float "in the room" if you know what I mean 😀

I agree with everyone else, I think more rock in your tank would go a long way, and make your tank seem more “full”.

Congrats on the planning and plumbing, thats a big job!

To me it looks like rocks are missing, the tank looks rather empty and (I'm sorry...) boring.

I tried to do that at first, however when I went to move the rock that the Clowns nems are on, they were biting the crap out of me and hitting my arm with their body. I took that as a sign they really didn't want me to move their spot lol So I built up everything around it hahaha

I may go back in and try again, maybe armed with kitchen dish gloves or something.

More rocks

From my experience with my tank the past 10 years (FOWLR) regarding fish activity and movement

The higher you build your rocks the higher the fish will swim = more going on

Most fish don’t like swimming in unfamiliar or open spaces. Rock work makes them feel comfortable / protected

Also if you have nems. You want to give them the option to choose a spot they like for flow and light . Not having taller rocks won’t give them the option

I I bought another 50 pounds of rock from Marco rocks. Every few weeks, I add a few more pounds. I am halfway there once I have all of them added. I will do my rock build I destroyed my previous one to add space for the add-ons
