Hello,

Is 6mm low iron glass too thin for a rimless 33 gallon cube (19.7" x 19.7" x 19.7")? When I compare to other tank specs, it's definitely on the low side, but not crazy thin AFAICT. AquaMaxx is the brand.

I would be drilling and adding a ghost overflow... too scary?

Thanks

If it's a manufactured tank, it's fine. DIY I'd go thicker. Be careful drilling, go very slow and let the cutting blade do the work.

There are overflows that do not require drilling and are reliable for an option (LifeReef makes an excellent HOB overflow).

A 3.8 safety factor would require 7mm. So you are close, but a bit on the thin side.

Googling etc. and reading, but I'm still confused as to 3.8 safety factor. I guess below 3.8 is considered unacceptable by some, but other says anything over 2.8 is acceptable.

Unless I'm mistaken, a higher safety factor is better.

I'd play it safe and go with HOB overflow. There are some really good options out there.
