A friend gave me a 75gal tank and he couldn’t remember where he got it. Probably a big pet store, but I’m trying to ID it but having a tough time.

The dimensions are 48x18x20.5. Which checks out for it being 75 gal. It’s rimmed with a center brace. On the bottom pane it has a “tempered glass, don’t drill”.

On the makers tag it has a little anchor which I’ve figured out is a tetra aquarium thing however they never made 75 gal aquariums from what I’ve gathered… so currently I’m lost.

(sorry about the messy shed)

I don't believe that "tetra" ever made tanks under that name.

I agree with the above, this is likely marineland 🙂

I'd also ask, why the concern? All these tanks are more or less the same, in my humble opinion and experience. If it holds water, I'd go with it 🙂

Good luck!

Awesome thanks, and the only reason I want to know is because I plan on drilling it for a overflow box and want to know the odds of the sides being tempered

I've read you can use sunglasses to determine if glass is tempered or not. I don't remember the details but I'm sure it would turn up in a search here or using Google.
Yeah I’ve read that too and tried it to no success. I know for a fact that the bottom pane is tempered but I still didn’t see the lines I was supposed too. Guess I’m just going to risk it and hope for the best

Anchor symbol on "Built By" sticker on rimmed glass aquarium:
Internet search suggested Marineland used to do that.
*just regurgitating info, not validated

I've never seen that on any of my Petco/Aqueon tanks.

EDIT -- just noticed a couple posts already suggested Marineland also.

It should be fairly easy to determine if the glass is tempered or not. Here's a good video for this:
