I’m new to the hobby and setting up a Waterbox Infinia Reef 150.4. When I was setting everything up, it looked level but when I filled it up, it clearly is not. The tank is roughly 4’x2’. The higher corner (right front) is about 1/2” higher than the opposite corner. I have an old house with a crawlspace but I had it reinforced before adding the tank so I don’t think the house shifted with the weight. I used a small level which I don't think was very accurate and so am planning on buying a longer level for better accuracy to fix it.
My question is how much variation is acceptable when it comes to how level tanks have to be? I’m new to this but 1/2” from one corner to the other seems like too much. I’m planning to drain the tank and level it with either shims or a couple 1/4” plywood pieces on the lower side, using the leveling feet to fine tune, but wondering what is level “enough”.
Any suggestions on best way to level? I have old hardwood floors that I want to protect so I built a platform of treated 2x6s which the tank stand sits on. Under that is a piece of plywood which contacts the floors to help diffuse the weight and hopefully protect the floor better.
