It’s finally here!!! Mostly. It was supposed to be here on April 23rd but no matter. It’s here. Unfortunately, the sump was cracked and I’m now stuck waiting an unknown period of time to get a replacement sump.
I’m honestly a little overwhelmed by all I’ve learned and still have to learn about the equipment. Skimmers and pumps and PAR and lumens and gph and OMG when does it end?!? It does end. Doesn’t it?
Budget woes
Ahhh the budget. That pesky figment of my imagination that just won’t seem to go away. It’s driving me nuts. NUTS!!!
Budget was based on getting a wrong quote for the tank/stand/sump that I wanted. Chalk that up to a misunderstanding. So I was screwed before I started. I had $1,000 left in my budget when I realized the lights I want cost $2,000. So no skimmer, no wavemakers, no return pump, no lid. And already 1,000 over budget. Eeek. All in, looks like I’ll need $4,000 of stuff. So how do I swallow $3,000? Perhaps we go fish/inverts only for a while. Maybe a long while. Save on lighting and wavemakers for now. Get a big skimmer.
Pic is of the empty tank waiting for the sump. Next to it is my qt/hospital tank that’s housing the only 2 surviving fish after the Velvet outbreak. Hard lessons were learned. Innocent fish were needlessly lost. I can’t wait to get the 2 fish into that nice roomy new tank :) they deserve it
