From reading I've come to the general conclusion that this is not a good idea.... BUT....

1). Live sand is not easy to obtain right now.
2). Tank is roughly 6mo old, a tad younger, but close enough.

So I am wondering when I am finally starting my tank migration, if when I get all the rock, corals, fish out of the tank, if I can siphon the sandbed through a filter sock, and the safely reuse that sand.

Would that be safe?

2nd question….

I live an hour away from the coast….. can I just go harvest my own sand, or is that a bad idea
Thats also fine imo, i would just make sure you get it from an area thats clean and away from a lot people and cars.
