Hi everyone.. I hope this is okay to post but I would like to get an idea what everyone's tank looks like and their set up... how many gallons plus dimensions, lighting, skimming, routine maintenance, flow, etc... anything else that works for you and your tank to keep zoas happy and thriving...

I'd be working on getting updated pics by tomorrow.. then my specs are coming soon also...

Thanks
Marvin

ohhhh, send me a link to the pics of your micros, i've never seen one in person hehe

i got my very first acan lord frag the other day, just two itty bitty polyps i traded for. they are red, with blue and green stripes. i wanted to see what all the hype was about

i like the assortment of colors on all of them, but i am content with just having 1 or 2.

I will have toget a pic of the whole tank...But here it goes most of it anyway...

Tank:
40g long
Lights:
250 watt MH 14k Hamilton
2x 110 watts VHo 1x white-1x blue
Filtration:
Aqua Remora Skimmer powered by a MJ 1200
Millennium 2000 power filter

Countless power heads

Water parameters:
CA: 420
nitrates,nitrites,phoshates,silicates 0(last time I tested a week ago)
Alk: 10dkh +/-
Ph: usually stable 8.2/8.3
Spg: 1.025-1.026
My lights are all on timers and only seasons are when it is either lengthened or shortened...Other wise it has been the same schedule for over 5 years.

12g JBJ Nano w/ 96w Quad PC lighting
Bioload: paired Black Oscellaries clowns
Cleaners: 7 small blue leg hermit

Skimmer
I run a Prizm HOB skimmer.

Routine
I do water change every 7-10 days depending on work load in the office.. I test and look for daily -- temp fluctuates from 76 ish to 80 ish in 9 hour photoperiod... salinity is around 1.023 - 1.025.. I lose about .25g per day due to evaporation. Every other day I dose Reef Plus. I also feed phyto, Coral Frenzy, and mysis w/ Garlic every other day..

Flow
stock pump; Rio 90 for extra circulation

Zoas stock
zoas take about 40%-50% of the tank...

here's a quick progression shot of my adventure so far..

Nice Marvin, I love the blastos! What are those shelves that you have in your tank? Where'd you get them as I'd really like to set something like that up for frags in my main tank? Let me know please :)

Thanks Karen...

Right now, I'm able to collect 7 kinds of blasto Wellsi's... Red w/ neon green ring (8+ heads); Red w/ blue ring (4+ heads); Red w/ green centers (7+ heads); Red w/ yellow ring (2+ heads); Reddish/purple w/ yellow dots (10+ heads); Neon green (1 head); Emerald green (2 heads)..

Regarding the shelves... a friend here made them for me.. it's pretty much just eggcrates glued to magnets.. I have one that is 2" x 6" (left) and one that is 2" x 5" (right)... really nice for frags... :)

yup.. it'll be so tough to narrow my top 30 zoas ever since I got involved with all ya'll zoas addicts... I see something new that I want almost everyday.. LoLz...

that's why I had to upgrade to a 32g... LoLz... j/k..

getting 1 polyp of a zoa I like is good with me to get started.. and ensures that you'll always have a back up just in case you lose the whole colony... you'll know where to get another frag... :)
