Tank sinking quick or looks to be!!

Last night I added a 55 gallon diy glass sump. 1 leter of pond matrix and really that was all the new stuff. Old sump was 20 gallon. Once replaced with new sump add 32 gallons of newly mixes water. Sump was built with 100% silicone.

In short all fish appear to be breathing heavy. But not going to to for air. All corals are closed and really looking bad. Need some help.

Maybe I stressed everything out? Corals ok but why fish breathing weird. Will post params later.

Aim a powerhead at the surface, add fresh carbon.

So I have added some prazi to the system. Looked real close at my fish and they have like a hazy eye. Also breathing heavy. The prazi should do the trick but the sailfin is not looking good. Corals are starting to come bank around. Just a little shocked.

Also I know that you said a hundred percent silicone. But I know that I have used 100% silicone from Home Depot that caused every fish to die. Is it aquarium silicone that you're using or just regular?

"aquarium silicone" is most often just repackaged GE type 1. there really is no such thing as aquarium silicone. the bigger concern is the cure time , which can be up to two full weeks depending on bead size.

I ran a terrarium for 2 years with no issues and fish in the water part of it. It sprung a leak and I resealed it with black silicone from Home Depot. 100% silicone is what it said. But after that Every fish I put in that Tank died until I remove that silicone and redid it with Aquarium silicone. Now I can't say they're not the same thing. But I can tell you that the Home Depot silicone killed everything in that tank

What brand? some silicone do have mold inhibitors but they generally aren't black.

Don't remember the brand name. But it seems he has flukess anyway. So maybe it doesn't matter

It is prob the silicone. It has cuted for 2 days. The last tank I made was just sitting dry for over a month. A major mistake. I have lost two fish sure to lose two more. And dont know what corals I will lose. I am running carbon. Should I remove the new sump or is it just damage is done to late.

The damage is most likely already done, and even if the issue is flukes or something else, you'll want to remove the sump and let the silicone cure properly.

So after nuking the tank with the silicone poisoning. I have been able to save a few things and fish. Now my question is once sump is repaired with the right silicon for aquarium do I need to replace the live sand my seachem matrix and the live rock or u think it should be ok? I have been running carbon in the tank.

Who knows, but I'd say keep running the carbon and do a couple big water changes. FYI the best silicone to use is momentive rtv 100 series.

I was gonna drain the tank and completely refill it with new water. Trash the matrix and replace but leave sand and rock.

I just bought that kind on amazon should be here wed.

All my stuff I think I have saved is in the qt tank.
