Hello,
Not new to the hobby but new to iv successfully drilled my tank w 2 returns w 1.5 drains ! I have a 48x24x24 tank, my sump will be 48x18x16!! Or maybe a little taller, im glad i found this site and im glad im in this hobby it teaches you patience!!
Anyway I need to order my stand and I was thinking 48longx24wide x36High this gives me room on top for many ideas, but im gonna run a manifold and that's where im stuck if I run it it will be for an ato which means the bottom shelf will have to be longer?? Any suggestions??

This will put your display tank incredibly close to the ground! That could be convenient, but it leaves a mere 2” of gap between top of sump and bottom of tank! (You won’t be able to reach in to work, much less fit a skimmer in!)

As far as ATO goes? Many reefers hide it in a side cabinet or similar!

Aha! This makes a bit more sense, but is also on the taller end for stands! (36” + 24” =60”, 5ft tall at the tank rim)

— I’ve found that a good trick is simply measuring from the ground up to your armpit, this dictates the maximum tank rim height you can run without needing to get on your tiptoes, or angle a shoulder up to get an arm in the tank! (Without using a step stool or short scaffolding, of course!)

I would argue with this controversial advise, in my opinion. I’m sorry but I do not want to bend myself to watch at the fishes and corals. I want to enter room and see aquarium on above it. I enjoy watching more comparing to working and gladly use a wide foldable pedestal instead.

No need to be sorry!

It’s entirely up to the end user, depending on wether they prefer ease of maintenance, or ease of standing viewing!
